Mainly Wolverton, Bradwell and Stantonbury, Stony Stratford and Calverton

This site is provided as a compilation of resources useful to anyone interested in the history of Wolverton and district. It does not pretend to be complete and in any case will remain partial for some while yet as I undertake the rather long task of getting this information online. When the site gets to a certain critical mass I hope it will encourage others to explore the unique history of this area.

Wolverton is principally known as the first railway town, which came into being in 1838 and grew to become the dominant town in North Bucks, but it has an ancient and important history, which stretches back to prehistoric times. After the Norman Conquest it became the centre of a barony and in the 18th century the manor funded some of Oxford University's well-known institutions.
